Wynton Marsalis
Day 93
#37 – Wynton Learson Marsalis (b.1961). American trumpeter, composer, teacher, music educator, and Artistic Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York. Albums include: Black Codes (From The Underground) (1985), Standard Time: Volume 1 (1986) and Blood on the Fields (1994).
Working with the ‘W’ and ‘M’ I started by playing with the symmetry and liked the idea of splitting the page in half. Marsalis is unusual in that he has recorded both jazz and classical pieces. That idea led to using two different typefaces to reflect the two types of music.
