#29 – Weather Report. American jazz fusion band of the 1970s and early 1980s, co-led by the Austrian-born keyboard player Joe Zawinul and the American saxophonist Wayne Shorter. Albums include: Mysterious Traveller (1974), Black Market (1976) and Heavy Weather (1977) with the hit ‘Birdland’.
The band lasted sixteen years with a continuous changing of personnel. The incredible list of musicians who played in the band became the starting point. After listening to them, I looked for a more interesting way to display the different names. Putting them in strips of colour worked well but it wasn’t until I turned them on their side that it reminded me of rain and became more dynamic. The longer strips reflecting the length of time in the band.
