Art Tatum

Day 69
#50 – Arthur ‘Art’ Tatum, Jr. (1909–1956). American jazz pianist and virtuoso, born nearly blind. Albums include: Art Tatum & Ben Webster: The Album (1956) and The Tatum Group Masterpieces, Vol. 1, (1990).

Art Tatum was revered by so many jazz musicians that it made sense to use this in some way. One of the most famous quotes is this one by Fats Waller. I was looking to add something else and thought about making reference to that fact he was almost blind – using braille at the bottom of the page to suggest the keyboard.
